Used the 3M headlight restoration kit and here are some before/after shots:
Before. The deep swirls you see were from my fingernails. Needless to say these needed some help.
After using the 800 grit pad.
Just a bit of a difference.
All done! More even than it looks due to the sunlight, I did have to do the driver side a second time. They aren’t crystal clear but fortunately if I decide that I need to do more/even it out, I have plenty of sanding paper and polish left. Don’t mind the bubbly grill it’s a common Murano aging problem, that’ll likely be my next small project.
I was kind of down about working on the Nissan after the paint issues from the car wash, but the clear headlights really look better and I may not necessarily trade it in for a Mazda5 as soon as it is feasible. Maybe.

Looks good!
Shame about the paint though... :( It won’t rust, will it?

it’s the primer, I should do something about it, but then I feel like i’ll be chasing down every flaw and there are plenty. I’ve thought about taking it to a ding/dent shop for an estimate.

What if you wrap it? Vinyl could hide it all in one shot.

I used that kit on my Civic.
I was really impressed with the results.
Five months later they’re starting to fog up again, but I think that’s my fault for not applying fresh UV protectant two months ago like I was supposed to...

Still would cost more than I’m willing to invest into this. She has nearly 190k on it and I honestly can’t see owning it more than another 3 or so years max. I really do need a 3rd row of seats even if I have to give up a lot of the creature comforts of the Murano. It’s a good car but just a bit limited.
